We hope a compilation of these great events will be a valuable resource for our community. Click on the categories above the calendar to limit the results by drive time from the Bolton Free Library. June 29, 2025(5 events) June 28, 2025 – June 29, 2025 Free fishing days offer residents and non-residents who are 16 and older* to fish without a freshwater fishing license (*Kids under 16 can always fish for free!). These days offer the perfect opportunity to try out fishing for the first time, to get back into the sport, or to take a friend or the whole family along to fish! Even though a license is not needed, all other fishing regulations apply. Creekside Classroom Environmental Education Center Join a tour guide at the Creekside Classroom to learn about the mineral springs in the park. Cups will be provided for tasting the springs. Saratoga National Historical Park Join us, the Schuylerville community, and other friends and partners in marking the 200th anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s visit to Schuylerville and the Schuyler Estate. Lafayette’s 1824-1825 tour reignited interest in the American Revolution as large crowds greeted him wherever he went. Speakers will share stories about the visit, Lafayette himself, and his contributions to the creation of the United States. |

July 1, 2025(2 events) – Registration required: Up Yonda Farm Join a Naturalist to explore our pond and learn what animals share a pond habitat. You’ll use nets to catch frogs, tadpoles, fish, and aquatic insects to see how these animals have adapted to life underwater and how they are all connected. $5 per person in addition to $6 per vehicle Day Use Fee. Come and see why Roadhouse 60’s is becoming one of the most popular bands in the area! Rain Location: Town Hall July 22nd Studio Two Tribute is a headlining Beatles band that pays tribute to the early Beatles years, choosing songs from the pre-Sgt. Pepper era. By recreating the Fab Four’s music, instruments, and onstage banter, Studio Two performs your most favorite hits that will bring people to the dance floor. Rain Location: Town Hall July 24th THIS IS A THURSDAY Jacksland an Eddy Nominated Soulful/Groove/Pop duo who have played all over the capital district and beyond! It features the soulful/passionate voice of Jackie Dugas and legendary singer/guitarist Rick Bolton. On this night they will be joined by Tim Wechgalear on violin and Pat Perkinson on Bass. Rain Location: Town Hall July 29th The North Country Jazz Project Big Band, these eighteen musicians are passionate about entertaining, inspiring and educating audiences with a wide variety of music from the Big Band repertoire. Many of our members are local, current or retired music educators. From Count Basie to Chick Corea, from Maynard Ferguson to Stevie Wonder this Big Band plays everything with spirit and skill. Rain Location: Town Hall August 5th Fenimore Blues, performs an eclectic mix of blues, R&B, and rock. The powerful vocals of Sherian Nolan are backed by musicians on guitar, keyboards, saxophone, bass, drums, and accordion. This combination allows a range of styles drawing on music notables from Bonnie Raitt to Aretha Franklin, the Neville Brothers to the Allman Brothers, Linda Ronstadt to Etta James, Santana to Tedeschi Trucks. Rain Location: Bolton Community Center, 50 Edgecomb Pond Rd August 12th Marty Wendell Rockabilly Hall of Fame recording artist, MARTY WENDELL and His Tour Band. June 29th - Challenges of Life – Hudson Crossing Park and Lake George Arts Project and Albany Symphony Hudson Crossing Park is thrilled to welcome back the Albany Symphony on Sunday, July 6 for a FREE “Water Music New York: Many Voices" performance. The project fuses arts, cultural heritage, and contemporary issues to re-envision the past, present, and future of people and communities bordering the New York State canal system in collaborations with composers, local artists, cultural and educational institutions, and community members. The concert day will include programs and events in and around the park, including violinists and country fiddlers of all kinds along with visual artists, history and walking tours, and accessible recreational activities. Artisanal foods and beverages from the region will also be featured, community organization tables and activities, a fine art sale and more in the Hudson Crossing field leading to the Symphony’s performance at dusk. |

Please note that the StarLab is a small space that requires crawling into with seating on the floor. With its acoustics, participants will need to be able to sit quietly for the duration of the program. Recommended for those 7 years of age and older. $5 per person in addition to $6 per vehicle Day Use Fee. Members Free. Registration required as space is limited. –  Registration required: Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) Experience the dynamic repertory of New York City Ballet in this 75-minute movement workshop designed especially for teens and adults with disabilities. NYCB dancers will lead movers of all abilities in a warm-up and choreography inspired by a ballet being performed during NYCB’s SPAC engagement. Modifications, including standing and seated movement options, will be offered throughout the event. The workshop will close with a Q&A with the artists. Adirondack Interpretive Center Eileen Viscer – General Bio Course Coordinator/Outdoor Studies Instructor Eileen Visser will talk about the September tradition of adventure, challenge, and comradery that is paddling the Adirondack Canoe Classic from Old Forge to Saranac Lake. Registration required: Hudson Crossing Park Explore the park after dark! Join us each month for an inclusive evening adventure on or near the full moon. As the sun sets and the moon rises, the park comes alive in subtle ways, and this program invites guests of all ages to discover the secret life of crepuscular animals- creatures most active during the twilight hours. Take a guided walk through Hudson Crossing Park and search for signs of some of our quietest neighbors: deer, foxes, raccoons, bats, rabbits, and even fireflies. These elusive animals tend to avoid the hustle and bustle of the day, but under the glow of the full moon, they become more active — giving us a rare chance to spot them in their natural element. While hiking up to the Godwin Preserve overlook with an Up Yonda Farm Naturalist, learn birding basics on how to identify birds. The overlook provides great views of soaring raptors and nearby songbirds to test out your new identification skills. Binoculars and the smartphone app, Merlin Bird ID, are recommended. Help us gather valuable data about New York’s loon population by participating in the NY Annual Loon Census as a community scientist! The NY Annual Loon Census is held on the 3rd Saturday of July each year for one hour. During the census, volunteers across the state of New York observe loons on their assigned lake and report their observations to ACLC. This data provides an annual "snapshot" of the breeding loon population in the state. Results of the census over time provide valuable information regarding the status and trends in New York's summer loon population. The census started in 2001, and has been held annually since. We thank the former Wildlife Conservation Society’s Adirondack Program for their collaboration in coordinating the NY Loon Census from 2010-2018. People all across the state are invited to participate in the Annual Loon Census and submit their observations from any lake in New York. Saratoga National Historical Park Looking for a more in-depth, hands-on experience during your visit? Join a Park Volunteer for a caravan-style tour of the Battlefield! Tours will last 2.5-3 hours. Instead of giving him lunch money, Rex’s mom has signed him up for free meals. As a poor kid in a wealthy school district, better-off kids crowd impatiently behind him as he tries to explain to the cashier that he’s on the free meal program. The lunch lady is hard of hearing, so Rex has to shout. Free Lunch is the story of Rex’s efforts to navigate his first semester of sixth grade—who to sit with, not being able to join the football team, Halloween in a handmade costume, classmates and a teacher who take one look at him and decide he’s trouble—all while wearing secondhand clothes and being hungry. His mom and her boyfriend are out of work, and life at home is punctuated by outbursts of violence. Halfway through the semester, his family is evicted and ends up in government-subsidized housing in view of the school. Rex lingers at the end of last period every day until the buses have left, so no one will see where he lives. Learn from a Naturalist about the importance of watersheds as you paint. Paint with Patrice classes are geared for beginners, but open to all ages and artistic abilities. Participants will use acrylic paints on an 8×8 or 8×10 inch stretched canvas and take home a finished painting. Registration required as space is limited to 10 people. – Adirondack Interpretive Center Michale Glennon, Ph.D. - Senior Research Scientist New York State’s Adirondack Park is a large, intact breeding ground for numerous migratory bird species, several of which are declining throughout their range. A unique component of the Adirondack avifauna is the birds inhabiting the boreal peatlands of the park. Climate change is now widely recognized as the pre-eminent threat to biodiversity in the 21st Century. At the southern range extent for this ecosystem type and many of its avian inhabitants, the park is a valuable location from which to monitor changes in bird populations from a warming climate. Findings from long-term monitoring of boreal birds in the Adirondacks suggest that bird responses to climate change may be mediated by land use patterns, highlight the importance of a patchy habitat distribution, and raise important implications for potential conservation strategies in these habitats. – Come and enjoy free concerts by a different talented act each Tuesday evening at Rogers Memorial Park from 7:00-9:00 PM. July 26, 2025(5 events) – Registration required: Hudson Crossing Park This science-themed excursion will focus on how boats are powered, starting with the mules that once pulled boats along the canal and ending with the modern engines we see today. Participants will take a short hike to look for different types of boat propulsion in action and explore the area where mules used to tow canal boats. Back at the pavilion, kids will design and build their own balloon-powered boats, experimenting with different designs to see which ones perform best.

This workshop will show participants how to use a single sheet of paper to create a little book that can be easily copied and shared with friends, community and family. Using suggested prompts or one’s own imagination, participants will fill pages with words, drawings and/or collage. This workshop is all about connecting (or reconnecting) with creative play and self-expression while learning about the power (and fun!) of self-publishing. No drawing experience necessary! Having a farm has always required having the right tool for the job. Join us as Jordan LaMothe returns for morning and afternoon demonstrations - blacksmithing farm tools! We will also have touch a truck and tractor, as well as hands-on tool activities for the young and the young at heart! – Saratoga National Historical Park A live tinsmith demonstration! At the time of the Battles of Saratoga, the tinsmith was an important part of both community and military life. Tinsmiths created dozens of useful items like cups, bowls, candle molds, lanterns, tea canisters, and other containers. They also provided armies with needed items such as oil flasks, canteens, document cases, cooking kettles, and even canister shot for artillery. Learn about the process and see a sampling of the many civilian and military wares a tinsmith could make!
