Angelina & JP are a musical duo from opposite ends of New York's Capital Region, brought together by a shared love of all things music. Angelina Valente studied Musical Theatre, while JP Hubbs focused on piano - but their paths crossed in 2017 when they both joined an eight-piece bluegrass band. What started as a big group collaboration quickly revealed a deeper musical connection and desire to explore more as a duo.
This Folklife Live & Local Concert is hosted by Dan Hubbs, and presented offsite at the Queensbury Senior Center, thanks to a grant to the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library from the New York State Council on the Arts supported by the Governor's Office and the New York State Legislature.

As the region prepares for a series of events on December 12 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the heroic “Noble Artillery Train” led by Colonel Henry Knox from Ticonderoga to Boston, Warren County and municipal officials are taking time on Tuesday, December 9 to call public attention to the Knox memorials in their communities and recall the sacrifices that eventually produced America’s independence. These events are presented by the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance and the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution.
Warren County is home to five of the 59 bronze plaques embedded in granite that were placed, beginning in 1926, along the path in upstate New York and Massachusetts taken by Knox and his teamsters to move 60 tons of artillery to General George
Washington. This weaponry was the key factor in the Continental Army’s causing British troops to abandon Boston in March 1776, never to return.The Warren County commemorations on December 9 are scheduled at four of the monument sites as follows, with expected participants listed:

We’ve all heard amazing facts about bird migration—the long distances that birds travel, the ways that they navigate, etc. But did you ever wonder how we figured all of this out? While working for the American Ornithological Society, Rebecca Heisman became fascinated with the varied and creative techniques that scientists have used to study bird migration, and this eventually became the basis for her book Flight Paths: How a Passionate and Quirky Group of Pioneering Scientists Solved the Mystery of Bird Migration.
In her talk, she’ll share some surprising stories from the history of bird migration research and discuss why understanding migration is so crucial for bird conservation.
Rebecca Heisman is an award-winning science writer who lives in Walla Walla, Washington, and has worked with organizations including the Audubon Society, the American Bird Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the American Ornithological Society. Flight Paths is her first book.

In November 1775, Gen. George Washington gave Henry Knox a mission to travel to New York and bring back cannons for the Continental Army. Knox was a 25-year-old bookseller with no military rank. His trek back to Cambridge has become a beloved part of the American saga. This talk digs deeper into that story, examining such questions as who first had the idea to fetch cannon from Lake Champlain, how Knox had contributed to the Patriot movement, the ways weather affected the mission, and how much those cannon changed the British army’s plans.
J. L. Bell is the author of The Road to Concord: How Four Stolen Cannon Ignited the Revolutionary War and the National Park Service study General George Washington’s Home and Headquarters, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He maintains the Boston1775.net website, offering daily updates of history, analysis, and unabashed gossip about the people of Revolutionary New England. Bell is now working on a book about the troubled first year of the Continental artillery regiment.

By a favorite poem we mean a poem you love, maybe a poem you’ve read numerous times, a poem that means a lot to you. We are following the guidelines established by Robert Pinsky’s Favorite Poem Project, so we ask that you don’t read an original poem, or a poem by a family member. Rather, choose a poem from the great tradition of world poetry, a poem published in an anthology or published by an established publisher.
Critically acclaimed poet, David Graham, will be Master of Ceremonies.
Each reader will have about 5 minutes to introduce the poem, let us know why this poem is important to you, and to read the poem.

About the artist: A chair caner and seat weaver for over 35 years, Christine Ferris-Hubbard also focuses her talents towards Scandinavian folk art, including weaving with wood and paper. Double walled Birch bark baskets, intricate Cherry and Maple stars, Black Ash reindeer, and traditional 3-dimensional German/Danish stars woven with paper. Chris has show her work at the Historic Salem Courthouse, Great Camp Sagamore, and the Adirondack Folk School, where she has also taught numerous classes in seat weaving. She has also taught classes at the Salem Bancroft Library, through adult continuing education classes, and privately.

Help count birds for this nation-wide Audubon program, organized locally by the LGLC on Sunday, December 14. The CBC is a winter bird census with over 100 years of community science involvement.
Our 15-mile circle includes Amy’s Park in Bolton south to Pilot Knob Preserve in Fort Ann, and the Schroon River in Warrensburg east to Sleeping Beauty and Black Mt in Dresden.
Volunteers may choose to survey routes by foot, car, or boat, or watch a feeder, and submit bird counts as well as weather conditions and hours to the LGLC, which then provides all of the compiled information to Audubon.

December 26, 2025Come workshop your Dungeons and Dragons character concept with our knowledgeable, nerdy, D&D playing (and DMing) staff!
At this drop in event, D&D players of all ages will have a chance to workshop a character concept they've been dying to play or bring one of their existing characters in to refine. We will provide assistance and ideas for character concepts, creating or improving backstories, and developing character goals and motivations.
Once you have reviewed your character concept with us, we will help you select a personalized set of approximately 7 gaming dice to match the aesthetic vibe and tactical requirements of your character.
We will also have self guided activities such as drawing your character, creating a dungeon, and there may even be some loot to roll for if you're feeling lucky!

Rev up your engines and join the race! Compete in our Mario Kart World Tournament and show off your skills on the track. Players of all skill levels are welcome to participate! Those not participating in the tournament are welcome to hang out and watch the races.
We will have a Tween bracket for ages 10-12 and a Teen bracket for ages 13-18. Winners of both brackets will face off against each other at the end of the tournament.
Please note: Each participant will have the exact same controller set up of one joy con with a joycon strap attached to be used horizontally. No participants will be allowed to bring and pair their own controller.
