Over the last two decades, Adirondack loons have experienced increasing nest failure and migration disruption due to climate change. Make it easy for employers to see the connection between your qualities and the skillset needed to do the job and market yourself as the solution to an employer's problem. Learn ways to research the employer's needs then identify and show them that you have these skills.
– Are your ancestors lost, invisible or misbehaving? Sooner or later every genealogist seems to hit a dead end in their research. On the first and third Thursday of each month from 1:00-2:30pm, Caldwell-Lake George Library will offer genealogy help. This is an informal drop-in, one-on-one meeting to discuss ways to overcome or move around problems in researching ancestors. We do not do genealogical research for you, but our experienced volunteers will suggest ways and sources to help you find answers. After losing her job, Carmen reluctantly moves in with her perfect sister Sofia and takes on revitalizing an old Edinburgh bookshop, finding unexpected charm and romance during the Christmas season. Registration required: Southern Adirondack Audubon Society We’ve all heard amazing facts about bird migration—the long distances that birds travel, the ways that they navigate, etc. But did you ever wonder how we figured all of this out? While working for the American Ornithological Society, Rebecca Heisman became fascinated with the varied and creative techniques that scientists have used to study bird migration, and this eventually became the basis for her book Flight Paths: How a Passionate and Quirky Group of Pioneering Scientists Solved the Mystery of Bird Migration. In her talk, she’ll share some surprising stories from the history of bird migration research and discuss why understanding migration is so crucial for bird conservation. Rebecca Heisman is an award-winning science writer who lives in Walla Walla, Washington, and has worked with organizations including the Audubon Society, the American Bird Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the American Ornithological Society. Flight Paths is her first book. |

December 12, 2025(2 events) – Registration encouraged: Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance The Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, in association with the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, is proud to present a series of activities on Friday, December 12 at Lake George to commemorate Henry Knox’s heroic journey through the region in December 1775 that brought 60 tons of badly needed artillery to George Washington’s Continental forces in Boston and force the British to abandon the city. Lake George’s significance to Knox’s feat cannot be overstated. He stayed at Fort George, on the grounds of today’s Lake George Battlefield Park, for over a week as he finalized plans to move the heavy equipment over a 300-mile route in the dead of winter. The Alliance is honored to be hosting Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Rick Atkinson (The Fate of the Day) and the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra as part of our tribute to Henry Knox and his Noble Train of Artillery.
