We have a new calendar! We’re experimenting with including free cultural and educational events at other local and regional libraries, museums, and non-profits. We hope a compilation of these great events will be a valuable resource for our community. Click on the colored categories above the calendar to limit the results by drive time from the Bolton Free Library. Be sure to check the hosting organization’s website for schedule changes and cancellations. Note that some of the events at and within 10 minutes of our library are not free; these are denoted with a “($)” and costs are included in those descriptions.
Check back often for updates and let us know what you think!

Colleen Salisbury, Community Outreach Coordinator, joins us at The Conkling Center to discuss their expanding programs in our area. Longer life means that today's older adults have opportunities unknown to previous generations. Longer life also brings new challenges for both older adults and caregivers. No one understands the new face of aging better than the professionals at Lifespan. Lifespan helps older adults and caregivers take on the challenges and opportunities of longer life. As a regional nonprofit, Lifespan is a trusted source of unbiased information, guidance and more than 30 services and advocacy for older adults and caregivers. They also provide training and education for allied professionals and the community. Annually assist thousands of older adults and caregivers. Christine Hogan-Kilburn, who in 2021 embarked on developing a book containing a collection of Civil War letters donated to the Historical Society by the Smith family of South Glens Falls. The thirty letters were penned by a Wisconsin soldier to his dear friend John A. Bentley, whose family members resided in the Parks-Bentley house from the mid 1800’s through the early 1900’s. Her presentation is about the book titled, “Dear Friend: Letters from Union Soldier Gustavuus Wintermeyer to John A. Bentley.” She will take you through her journey of discovering the letters, the creation of the book, and several of the things she learned about the Civil War from the very personal insights provided by this young infantryman.
