January 1, 2026(1 event) – Crown Point State Historic Site Explore the grounds at Crown Point State Historic Site with staff and learn about the area's rich history. During this hike, you will have the opportunity to experience many of the notable historic features as well as the trail system. This hike will explore uneven terrain that may be icy, and or slippery. Appropriate footwear, warm clothes, and water is recommended for this hike. Meet at the museum for a 2 mile hike. Our one-day event is formatted in a flipped-classroom style, where participants will watch recoded lectures related to this year’s themes. January 31, 2026(4 events) – Registration recommended: Up Yonda Farm On this hike we’ll cover the basics of snowshoeing while you learn about animal tracking, winter ecology, and the history of Up Yonda Farm. During the program, we’ll traverse about a mile over the course of an hour, and will include a stop at our scenic vista point overlooking Lake George. Your program will finish near the Farmhouse, where a campfire and hot cocoa will be available! Reservations are recommended via nonrefundable reservation deposit of $1/person. Walk-ins will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. If there is not enough snow on your selected weekend, we will convert the snowshoe to a Naturalist-led hike instead. $9 per person with snowshoe rentals, $6 without rentals, in addition to Day Use Fee.
– Creekside Classroom Environmental Education Center Join a tour guide at the Creekside Classroom to learn about the mineral springs in the park. Cups will be provided for tasting the springs. Tours meet at Creekside Classroom every Saturday and Sunday at 11a.m. unless otherwise specified. – Hillview Free Library (Diamond Point) Come sit by the fire with Nancy as she reads excerpts from two published books: "Possums to Porcupines - The Wildlife of an Adirondack Rehabilitator" and "Adventures Inside, Outside and Beyond the Cuckoo's Nest." Q & A will follow. Books available for sale.
