We have a new calendar! We’re experimenting with including free cultural and educational events at other local and regional libraries, museums, and non-profits. We hope a compilation of these great events will be a valuable resource for our community. Click on the colored categories above the calendar to limit the results by drive time from the Bolton Free Library. Be sure to check the hosting organization’s website for schedule changes and cancellations. Note that some of the events at and within 10 minutes of our library are not free; these are denoted with a “($)” and costs are included in those descriptions.

Check back often for updates and let us know what you think!

Crown Point kicks off the site's commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution on Sunday, May 11, 2025! On May 11, 1775, Seth Warner led a group of Green Mountain Boys to capture Crown Point, only three weeks after the American Revolution began at Lexington and Concord. This early victory secured cannons and artillery for the revolutionary cause and helped establish American control of Lake Champlain early in the war. On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Crown Point will mark the anniversary of this crucial victory, with an encampment of Seth Warner's Regiment representing the Green Mountain Boys and the opening of new exhibits in the historic site museum. The new exhibits include the interactive Revisit the Revolution kiosk, which highlights themes, stories, and locations associated with Revolutionary War. The day will include performances by 18th Century musicians and a focus tour about Crown Point in the American Revolution. Local historical organizations will also be on site to talk about ways to commemorate the American Revolution in the years to come.

New York State Museum

Join Dr. Peter Fix, Principal Conservator of the World Trade Center Ship and expert in Archaeological Watercraft Conservation at Texas A&M University, for a 30-minute lunchtime talk presented live in the South Lobby—where the ship is currently being reconstructed and on view to the public.

Unearthed in 2010 beneath the World Trade Center site, this Revolutionary War-era gunboat lay hidden for over two centuries beneath the Hudson River shoreline. Believed to have been built near Philadelphia in the 1770s and possibly seized by the British during the war, the vessel offers a rare glimpse into early American maritime history.

Peter will share updates on the conservation process, along with insights into the ship’s discovery, historical significance, and the meticulous work involved in bringing this 18th-century artifact back to life. Don’t miss this chance to witness history in the making and explore the connection between America’s revolutionary past and its modern-day preservation.
