We have a new calendar! We’re experimenting with including free cultural and educational events at other local and regional libraries, museums, and non-profits. We hope a compilation of these great events will be a valuable resource for our community. Click on the categories above the calendar to limit the results by drive time from the Bolton Free Library. Be sure to check the hosting organization’s website for schedule changes and cancellations. Note that some of the events at and within 10 minutes of our library are not free; these are denoted with a “($)” and costs are included in those descriptions.

Check back often for updates and let us know what you think!

Tuesday, September 9 - Saturday, September 27

Reception: Friday, September 12 | 5-7 PM

Gallery Hours: Tues - Fri, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM | Sat, 12:00 - 4:00 PM | additional hours by appointment

My work is digital photography, both black & white and color. I photograph plants, animals, and landscapes. Some of the landscapes I photograph include the built environment.

I began taking photos with my parent’s polaroid in the 1970’s and then got a Minolta film camera during high school. Once digital cameras appeared on the scene in the 1990’s, I switched from film and never looked back.

Plants are my lifelong passion and the focus of my education, life’s work, teaching, and art, but I am also fascinated by birds, insects, mammals, and fungi.

Photography is my other passion and each day, weather permitting I try to spend a few hours taking pictures.

An overworked salaryman and a mischievous cashier with a dual personality form an unexpected bond in this sweet-and-sour comedy!

At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking—and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he's made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn't realize he already knows her! (From the Publisher)

I find inspiration in nature as the source of life and beauty. When I paint, I look for this beauty in what surrounds me—the mountains, the birds and my love of wildflowers. I chose to work in black ink because it is a type of expressionistic painting that is done quickly that catches my inspiration from what is in my mind and what I see.

Black ink painting is an ancient way of painting using brush, paper and black ink. This type of painting combines both drawing and painting techniques using different tones of ink and different brush strokes that bring life to a painting. My paintings represent how I see the beauty of nature that surrounds us that captures the energy of expression.
