December 4, 2025(7 events) – Are your ancestors lost, invisible or misbehaving? Sooner or later every genealogist seems to hit a dead end in their research. On the first and third Thursday of each month from 1:00-2:30pm, Caldwell-Lake George Library will offer genealogy help. This is an informal drop-in, one-on-one meeting to discuss ways to overcome or move around problems in researching ancestors. We do not do genealogical research for you, but our experienced volunteers will suggest ways and sources to help you find answers. We can also help if you are using a database like Ancestry or Family Search and need a little insight on how it works.  – Registration required: Caldwell-Lake George Library It's our annual Holiday Pajama Party!
Wear your favorite PJs and join us for crafts, games, snacks, visits with Santa, and a free book for every child! All families are welcome!

December 8, 2025(3 events) – As many of you may have noticed, a new Book Shed has arrived at the Hillview Free Library! We are so excited about this generous donation and would like to thank Spencer & Tyler Junco for their contribution in making our Library campus even more inviting!
As we prepare for the final placement of the new Book Shed, which the Town of Lake George is so graciously assisting us with, we need to empty the little red one currently in use. For this, we are looking for volunteers to help us move books out of the old shed. If you are available to help on Monday, December 8th (snow date of Wednesday the 10th) between the hours of 10am and 2pm please email Board President, Tom Hall: thall3@nycap.rr.com. December 9, 2025(4 events)  Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance News Advisory As the region prepares for a series of events on December 12 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the heroic “Noble Artillery Train” led by Colonel Henry Knox from Ticonderoga to Boston, Warren County and municipal officials are taking time on Tuesday, December 9 to call public attention to the Knox memorials in their communities and recall the sacrifices that eventually produced America’s independence. These events are presented by the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance and the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. Warren County is home to five of the 59 bronze plaques embedded in granite that were placed, beginning in 1926, along the path in upstate New York and Massachusetts taken by Knox and his teamsters to move 60 tons of artillery to General George The Warren County commemorations on December 9 are scheduled at four of the monument sites as follows, with expected participants listed: – Registration required: Caldwell-Lake George Library In our December session of Paint with Patrice, we will be painting Snowy Pinecone. Enjoy this festive time of year and paint this snowy pinecone. Add some evergreen branches to enhance this woodsy piece. December 10, 2025(2 events) – Registration required: Warren County 4-H WHEP: Wildlife Habitat Education Program Youth ages 5-19 are invited to a Wildlife of the Adirondacks interactive, educational event sponsored by 4-H. Come find out more about many species of wildlife from around the area, participate in hands-on learning through the use of pelts, skulls, and other indicators of who is in your neighborhood. We will discuss what is out there, the food each species eats, and the type of habitat that they may live in. – The Caldwell-Lake George Library Book Club will meet on Wednesday, December 10th at 6:30 pm to discuss The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan. After losing her job, Carmen reluctantly moves in with her perfect sister Sofia and takes on revitalizing an old Edinburgh bookshop, finding unexpected charm and romance during the Christmas season. December 12, 2025(2 events) – Registration encouraged: Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance The Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, in association with the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, is proud to present a series of activities on Friday, December 12 at Lake George to commemorate Henry Knox’s heroic journey through the region in December 1775 that brought 60 tons of badly needed artillery to George Washington’s Continental forces in Boston and force the British to abandon the city. Lake George’s significance to Knox’s feat cannot be overstated. He stayed at Fort George, on the grounds of today’s Lake George Battlefield Park, for over a week as he finalized plans to move the heavy equipment over a 300-mile route in the dead of winter. The Alliance is honored to be hosting Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Rick Atkinson (The Fate of the Day) and the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra as part of our tribute to Henry Knox and his Noble Train of Artillery. Come paint this universally considered “cute” bird on a winter branch and staying warm with its fluffed feathers. A Naturalist will share an Ojibwe story about the chickadee in winter. $17 per person in addition to Day Use Fee. Members $12. |
December 14, 2025(1 event) December 14, 2025 Registration required: Lake George Land Conservancy Help count birds for this nation-wide Audubon program, organized locally by the LGLC on Sunday, December 14. The CBC is a winter bird census with over 100 years of community science involvement. Our 15-mile circle includes Amy’s Park in Bolton south to Pilot Knob Preserve in Fort Ann, and the Schroon River in Warrensburg east to Sleeping Beauty and Black Mt in Dresden. Volunteers may choose to survey routes by foot, car, or boat, or watch a feeder, and submit bird counts as well as weather conditions and hours to the LGLC, which then provides all of the compiled information to Audubon. |

During this Naturalist-led hike, we’ll traverse about a mile over the course of an hour, observe how plants and animals prepare for winter, and stop at our scenic vista point overlooking Lake George.
