July 28, 2025(6 events) – This group meets the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 12:30 to 2:30 pm in the community room. Writers of all styles and genres are welcome. – NOTE: Included with a Community Fitness Membership, which is free to residents of Hague, Bolton, Ticonderoga, Crown Point, and Putnam. A Membership or Visitor Pass is required for this activity. – Preschoolers can stretch, move, and relax in this fun and engaging Preschool Yoga session! Designed for ages 3-5, this class combines simple yoga poses, breathing exercises, and gentle music to encourage movement, mindfulness, and creativity. No experience needed—just wear comfy clothes and socks. – Kids in grades K-6 are invited to join us for our weekly free art program. Enjoy a different open-ended art project each week featuring a variety of art styles and materials. No sign up required. Learn how the culture and history of Brazil has shaped the food they serve and enjoy. July 30, 2025(12 events) At Lake George High School - Caldwell-Lake George Library We are proud to present the Seagle Festival’s children’s opera, Monkey & Francine in the City of Tigers, at the Lake George High School auditorium on Wednesday, July 30th at 10:00 am. This event is free and open to the public.
Utilizing music from both Western and non-Western styles, Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers is an action-packed tale of bravery, smarts, and family ties. Brave Monkey and clever Francine work together to escape the clutches of a dishonest Crocodile and the evil Lord and Lady Tiger to save their family and their kingdom. Their teamwork and bravery show them and their parents that when they work together, they can accomplish anything.

His performances are fast-paced and exciting displays of many classic vaudeville and circus skills including juggling, unicycling, rope walking, object balancing, and many other feats of daring, bravery, and side-splitting foolishness. – Do you have questions about your smartphone, tablet, or other device? Their repertoire continual expands with Crowmatix songs from their 18 Albums of Originals, Blues and Americana music and the songs Louie learned and helped create directly with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame group “The Band” when he collaborated with them for over 15 years. Co-producing The Band’s last three CD’s including their comeback hits Atlantic City & Blind Willie Mctell along with many of their 90’s repertoire. AdkAction and our partner organizations have been reimagining the future of our food systems by connecting our neighbors in need directly with local farms. This lecture explores how these programs impact the lives of real Adirondackers on both sides of the food system and how this model could support small-scale agriculture as a growth industry in our region. |

Having a farm has always required having the right tool for the job. Join us as Jordan LaMothe returns for morning and afternoon demonstrations - blacksmithing farm tools! We will also have touch a truck and tractor, as well as hands-on tool activities for the young and the young at heart! –   – Saratoga National Historical Park A live tinsmith demonstration! At the time of the Battles of Saratoga, the tinsmith was an important part of both community and military life. Tinsmiths created dozens of useful items like cups, bowls, candle molds, lanterns, tea canisters, and other containers. They also provided armies with needed items such as oil flasks, canteens, document cases, cooking kettles, and even canister shot for artillery. Learn about the process and see a sampling of the many civilian and military wares a tinsmith could make! August 4, 2025(7 events) – Registration required: Crandall Public Library There are many different ways to be creative. Children entering grades 1st-6th will experience four unique art experiences. This program is part of the Color Our World Summer Reading Program for children, teens, and adults. – Grimaldi is renowned for his expertise in abstract expressionism, his artistic journey is deeply influenced by the iconic American artist, Jackson Pollock. With a portfolio gracing studios, professional offices, and esteemed private collections, his signature style captivates viewers worldwide. On August 4th, his gallery will be doing a live demonstration on his technique at the Caldwell-Lake George Library, 336 Canada Street, Lake George, NY. The program will begin at 10:00 am and it will be assisted by Lake George Youth Commission campers. All the campers will receive a special gift and add their signatures to the piece as Artist! Community members are welcome to join in and add their mark to this very special painting. The piece will be proudly displayed at the library for the entire community to enjoy! Join us each month for an inclusive evening adventure on or near the full moon. As the sun sets and the moon rises, the park comes alive in subtle ways, and this program invites guests of all ages to discover the secret life of crepuscular animals- creatures most active during the twilight hours. Take a guided walk through Hudson Crossing Park and search for signs of some of our quietest neighbors: deer, foxes, raccoons, bats, rabbits, and even fireflies. These elusive animals tend to avoid the hustle and bustle of the day, but under the glow of the full moon, they become more active — giving us a rare chance to spot them in their natural element. Take a walk and learn about the history of the Delaware & Hudson Rail Trail. The trail travels the railbed of the former Delaware & Hudson Railroad, known locally as the Slate Picker, which stretched 26 miles through the Slate Valley. This program will originate at the access point directly adjacent to the Slate Valley Museum. Park in the museum lot and meet right outside the museum's front entrance!  Saratoga National Historical Park The McKrells will bring their rousing brand of Bluegrass to top of the hill next to the Visitor Center. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the exhilarating sounds along with the beautiful and historic views.Bluegrass Now magazine described our guests as follows: "Traditional suits-and-ties bluegrass The McKrells are not...Yes, it's Grass, mostly, but there's a lilt to the tunes, a bouncing drive to the melodies, and here and there a touch of melancholy that seems to go hand in hand with the Celtic folk persona." Saratoga Arts made this program possible through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. This support was gained by the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield. – Registration required: The Conkling Center JUST Water has been packaging water products locally since 1995. The facility is located at 276 Dix Ave. in Queensbury. Director of Operations Manager, Melissa Frank will take us to view the production room, loading areas, ranks, piping and packaging areas. Participants will be divided into two teams for games like Red Rover and Capture the Flag. When the games begin they will use colorful cornstarch based powder to tag each other in a kaleidoscope of colors! After the games are over, we will help participants process their souvenir shirts to set the color powder using a vinegar soak and a hot iron. Registration is required so that each participant can be provided with a white t-shirt, bandanna and sunglasses to wear during the program (and take home as a souvenir) Please note: Participants should dress for a mess as clothes and shoes worn during the program will be stained by the color powder. Since this is an outdoor event, there is a chance that it may be rescheduled due to the weather. See Anne or Amy for more information. All are from different areas, and now call Albany, New York home. Brian, Irishman and bassist, plays with multiple upstate New York reggae groups as well as Mixed Roots. Calling on his expertise from these, he offers flavors from the Grateful Dead and others. Pete, our guitarist and also an Irishman, plays with passion and expertise with decades of practice and performing reggae and rock and all places in between. The horn section—featuring (at times) two trombones, Dave and Catherine, and Scott, the sax man—consider themselves local also. They bring fire to the band with their playing. George, the lead drummer and vocalist, grew up in Accra, Ghana, where he learned and practiced traditional African beats. He shares his vocabulary of AfroBeat and reggae with Mixed Roots. This Saturday Morning Social will include a program commemorating the 25-year history of The Saratoga Special. Join co-owners and co-founders Joe and Sean Clancy and managing editor Tom Law as they talk about the origin of the paper in 2001 and the role it plays, a quarter-century later, in telling the stories of the horses and horsemen who compete at Saratoga Race Course. FanDuel Racing broadcaster Gabby Gaudet, a former intern at The Saratoga Special, will moderate the discussion. The Clancys founded The Special seven years after establishing Steeplechase Times. Law came on board in 2013 after a stint with Thoroughbred Times. The Clancys and Law have collectively covered racing for nearly 100 years and have won six Eclipse Awards and several other honors for coverage of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes, and Breeders Cup. The Saratoga Special will also host a handicapping seminar during the Saturday Morning Social to discuss the 145th running of the Alabama Stakes. There will also be book signings featuring The Travers: Saratoga's Midsummer Derby 1864-2023 by Brien Bouyea and Michael Veitch; Secretariat's Legacy by Patricia McQueen; Find Me in Saratoga by Patrice Mastrianni; and When Montana Outraced the East by Catharine Melin-Moser. – Tri-County Community DaysResidents of Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties receive FREE admission with proof of residency and by providing an email address. Saratoga National Historical Park Looking for a more in-depth, hands-on experience during your visit? Join a Park Volunteer for a caravan-style tour of the Battlefield! Tours will last 2.5-3 hours. Meet in the Visitor Center and follow along in your own vehicle for as long as you like. May be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. – Registration required: Hudson Crossing Park The history-themed excursions invite kids to step back in time and explore the rich history of the Champlain Canal and Hudson River. Participants will start with a guided hike that explores the history of the river and canal, from the indigenous people all the way to modern-day voyaging through the canal. The hike will include a special tour of "Stratton's Shanty," a replica lock tender’s shanty, and share how the role of the lock tender has changed over the last 200 years. Back at the pavilion, participants will enjoy a special craft to connect the past with the future.

Drawing can be a potent way to internalize new information and investigate a curiosity. You don’t have to be an “artist” to benefit from exploring new subjects with a combination of both words and pictures. This workshop will introduce participants to the joys of visual note-taking and together we will spend time researching a topic of choice and creating a single-page educational comic from what we learned. No drawing experience necessary! Materials needed: colored pencils, graphite pencils with erasers, printer paper (at least 2 sheets per participant), pens (just regular ballpoint pens are perfect). – Anime Saturday is back! Teens ages 13-19 can drop in to the teen center from 1-2:30pm to watch some anime! We will watch the first three episodes of an anime and discuss it over snacks. Explore how drumbeats, trilling fifes, and songs created an 18th-century world of military music. Finding that they shared similar frustrations about the emerging brass band scene in New York City, co-founders Alex Harris and Ally Chapel came together to form a group dedicated to showcasing the talents of female musicians in a landscape that was dominated by male musicians and bandleaders. After debuting in March 2019, Brass Queens grew to be a fixture in the local music scene and was dubbed “the hardest working band in town” by their peers. Each participant will make 3 unique cards. – Do you have questions about your smartphone, tablet, or other device? We can help! Drop-in with your device for answers and advice from a Crandall librarian. Everyone is welcome. How it works: This session will begin with a short tutorial on the day's Bonus Topic, followed by a Q&A period for any tech-related questions that you have. Feel free to bring your own bag lunch to enjoy while you learn and get your questions answered. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your relevant devices and passwords. Keep in mind: Help during the Q&A period is limited to 10 minutes when others are waiting. We offer 30 minute 1-on-1's by appointment for more in-depth help. To be held in the Children's Activity Rooms. – Meet in the Teen Center to talk about books! We'll close out the summer talking about the books we loved, the books we hated, and to share recommendations while enjoying a sampling of delightful canapes. This program is part of our weekly Teen Group, a social club for teens, ages 13-19. Meet in the Teen Center for a different activity every week. Arts and crafts, acting games, cooking classes, book talks, gaming, art walks, and more. – The ever-popular, free Bluegrass Music Jam hosted by Denise Radtke & Frank Orsini meets monthly on the 1st Thursday of the month, September through April, 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Community Room downstairs off the Glen Street entrance and through the Folklife Gallery. All are welcome, pickers and listeners alike. September 6, 2025(2 events) Saratoga National Historical Park Looking for a more in-depth, hands-on experience during your visit? Join a Park Volunteer for a caravan-style tour of the Battlefield! Tours will last 2.5-3 hours. Meet in the Visitor Center and follow along in your own vehicle for as long as you like. May be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. – Bring your puzzles to swap for ‘new’ to you puzzles. Please have boxes taped shut or pieces in a ziploc bag in box. Puzzles accepted for swap with missing pieces just label box with how many are missing. |
