Creekside Classroom Environmental Education Center Join a tour guide at the Creekside Classroom to learn about the mineral springs in the park. Cups will be provided for tasting the springs. Tours meet at Creekside Classroom every Saturday and Sunday at 11a.m. and 1p.m. unless otherwise specified. Registration required: Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) The Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists is a free community event that is presented annually at SPAC to celebrate hundreds of the Capital Region’s brightest young actors, dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists. At 2pm, SPAC’s grounds will be transformed into a festival of student pop-up performances, fine art displays, food stands, poetry slams, games & activities, and free ice cream provided by Stewart’s Shops! At 4:45pm, hundreds of young artists will gather to present a show-stopping concert on SPAC’s main stage, featuring large-scale productions that combine music, song, poetry, visual art, and dance. |

–  Registration required: Adirondack Interpretive Center Join guest birder Miok Salz as we look for early arriving avian migrants and resident birds. We’ll walk along the Rich Lake Marsh on the private Huntington Wildlife Forest. Walks are easy rambles and great for beginning birders. Binoculars are available thanks to Northern New York Audubon. Space is limited. Registration required. – Saratoga National Historical Park A live tinsmith demonstration! At the time of the Battles of Saratoga, the tinsmith was an important part of both community and military life. Tinsmiths created dozens of useful items like cups, bowls, candle molds, lanterns, tea canisters, and other containers. They also provided armies with needed items such as oil flasks, canteens, document cases, cooking kettles, and even canister shot for artillery. Learn about the process and see a sampling of the many civilian and military wares a tinsmith could make! The tinsmith demonstration is weather sensitive and will be cancelled in the event of rain. |

As the sun sets and the moon rises, the park comes alive in subtle ways, and this program invites guests of all ages to discover the secret life of crepuscular animals- creatures most active during the twilight hours. Take a guided walk through Hudson Crossing Park and search for signs of some of our quietest neighbors: deer, foxes, raccoons, bats, rabbits, and even fireflies. These elusive animals tend to avoid the hustle and bustle of the day, but under the glow of the full moon, they become more active — giving us a rare chance to spot them in their natural element. Space is limited, and registration is required. |
June 11, 2025(1 event) – Registration encouraged: Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) Join naturalists with the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program, Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Champlain Area Trails for an educational invasive species walk along the Wadhams Lookout Trail in Westport. The walk will begin in the parking area on state Route 22 at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 11. Attendees will learn basic plant identification techniques, what makes a species invasive, and how to report invasive species as they walk along the trail. Various invasive species such as buckthorn and Japanese barberry will be identified along the way. The total hike to Wadhams Lookout from the parking area is 0.3 miles long. The trailhead is on state Route 22, 0.3 mi east of Wadhams. We ask everyone participating in the walk to bring the appropriate gear, including water and snacks, for spending a couple of hours in the woods. |

June 15, 2025(1 event) RSVP requested: Adirondack Interpretive Center With the guidance of mushroom enthusiast Sandy Bureaus, head out for an afternoon of mushroom hunting along the AIC trails. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned forager these walks will help expand your knowledge into the mysteries of mycology. Walks will be held every third Sunday at 1pm starting in May and continuing through October. Registration is not required but encouraged. |

Participants will be a contributing voice in an ensemble bringing musical arrangements to life. Focus will be on musicality, performance, energy, but most of all, the joy of singing! All ages, levels, and abilities are welcome in this safe, collaborative space. Pop, Rock, Jazz, Broadway, and everything in between. We know SOTA Voices sounds a bit like the musical term “sotto voce” (which means “under the voice” or “quietly”) but in SOTA Voices, we will making some joyful noise! Tours will last 2.5-3 hours. Meet in the Visitor Center and follow along in your own vehicle for as long as you like. May be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Registration requested: Adirondack Interpretive Center Join the Interpretive Naturalist Intern Saturday, June 21st at 10am for the summer’s first Woodland Walk on the Rich Lake Trail in memory of AIC friend Elaine Schwartz. The Rich Lake trail is an easy 0.7-mile loop that winds through various habitats, including a raised boardwalk through a cedar swamp, and offers views of the Goodnow Fire Tower. Saratoga National Historical Park The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York return to the park to present, “Silent Wings: Raptor Rehab and Education.” The program is designed for all ages to see live birds of prey up-close and to learn about their impressive adaptations and behaviors. (Saratoga Arts made this program possible through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. This support was gained by the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield.) |
