Creekside Classroom Environmental Education Center Join a tour guide at the Creekside Classroom to learn about the mineral springs in the park. Cups will be provided for tasting the springs. Tours meet at Creekside Classroom every Saturday and Sunday at 11a.m. and 1p.m. unless otherwise specified. Registration required: Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) The Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists is a free community event that is presented annually at SPAC to celebrate hundreds of the Capital Region’s brightest young actors, dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists. At 2pm, SPAC’s grounds will be transformed into a festival of student pop-up performances, fine art displays, food stands, poetry slams, games & activities, and free ice cream provided by Stewart’s Shops! At 4:45pm, hundreds of young artists will gather to present a show-stopping concert on SPAC’s main stage, featuring large-scale productions that combine music, song, poetry, visual art, and dance. |

Marsha Barrett is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign. Her research examines the political and social history of the United States during the twentieth century. Barrett’s book, Nelson Rockefeller’s Dilemma: The Fight to Save Moderate Republicanism, examines Rockefeller's career as a means for understanding the fate of moderate Republicanism and the broader transformation of the political landscape after the passage of 1960s federal civil rights legislation. Her research has appeared in publications including New York History, Journal of Policy History, Politico, and Time. |

We’ll walk along the Rich Lake Marsh on the private Huntington Wildlife Forest. Walks are easy rambles and great for beginning birders. Binoculars are available thanks to Northern New York Audubon. Space is limited. Registration required. – Saratoga National Historical Park A live tinsmith demonstration! At the time of the Battles of Saratoga, the tinsmith was an important part of both community and military life. Tinsmiths created dozens of useful items like cups, bowls, candle molds, lanterns, tea canisters, and other containers. They also provided armies with needed items such as oil flasks, canteens, document cases, cooking kettles, and even canister shot for artillery. Learn about the process and see a sampling of the many civilian and military wares a tinsmith could make! As the sun sets and the moon rises, the park comes alive in subtle ways, and this program invites guests of all ages to discover the secret life of crepuscular animals- creatures most active during the twilight hours. Take a guided walk through Hudson Crossing Park and search for signs of some of our quietest neighbors: deer, foxes, raccoons, bats, rabbits, and even fireflies. These elusive animals tend to avoid the hustle and bustle of the day, but under the glow of the full moon, they become more active — giving us a rare chance to spot them in their natural element. June 11, 2025(1 event) – Registration encouraged: Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) Join naturalists with the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program, Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Champlain Area Trails for an educational invasive species walk along the Wadhams Lookout Trail in Westport. The walk will begin in the parking area on state Route 22 at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 11. Attendees will learn basic plant identification techniques, what makes a species invasive, and how to report invasive species as they walk along the trail. Various invasive species such as buckthorn and Japanese barberry will be identified along the way. The total hike to Wadhams Lookout from the parking area is 0.3 miles long. The trailhead is on state Route 22, 0.3 mi east of Wadhams. We ask everyone participating in the walk to bring the appropriate gear, including water and snacks, for spending a couple of hours in the woods. |
June 12, 2025(2 events) – Registration encouraged: Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program APIPP staff will lead an educational walk at Boquet River Nature Preserve that will focus on how to identify and manage some of the most common invasive plants including honeysuckle, knotweed, and barberry. The walk is a great training for professionals and the public alike to learn the best management practices for controlling some of the invasive plants that negatively impact our local environment. If the weather is bad an indoor training will be held at The Nature Conservancy building in Keene Valley. Attendees are strongly encouraged to register for the walk so they can receive updates. |

Explore stories of slavery, labor, and freedom in colonial New York through artifacts and excavations. Learn about the Powell family’s transition from enslavement to becoming one of the first African American landowners in the region and discover how archaeological research uncovers the experiences of those who navigated the challenges of building new lives in a changing world. This tour is held in honor of Juneteenth, celebrating freedom and resilience. |

Kids will build their very own popsicle stick house and create a special drawing of their family to go inside—perfect as a keepsake for Dad or any special caregiver. This fun and creative experience is a great way to make memories together while honoring the people who help build our homes with love. All materials provided, creativity encouraged! RSVP requested: Adirondack Interpretive Center With the guidance of mushroom enthusiast Sandy Bureaus, head out for an afternoon of mushroom hunting along the AIC trails. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned forager these walks will help expand your knowledge into the mysteries of mycology. Walks will be held every third Sunday at 1pm starting in May and continuing through October. Registration is not required but encouraged. |

Participants will be a contributing voice in an ensemble bringing musical arrangements to life. Focus will be on musicality, performance, energy, but most of all, the joy of singing! June 21, 2025(3 events) Saratoga National Historical Park Looking for a more in-depth, hands-on experience during your visit? Join a Park Volunteer for a caravan-style tour of the Battlefield! Tours will last 2.5-3 hours. Meet in the Visitor Center and follow along in your own vehicle for as long as you like. May be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Registration requested: Adirondack Interpretive Center Join the Interpretive Naturalist Intern Saturday, June 21st at 10am for the summer’s first Woodland Walk on the Rich Lake Trail in memory of AIC friend Elaine Schwartz. The Rich Lake trail is an easy 0.7-mile loop that winds through various habitats, including a raised boardwalk through a cedar swamp, and offers views of the Goodnow Fire Tower. Saratoga National Historical Park The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York return to the park to present, “Silent Wings: Raptor Rehab and Education.” The program is designed for all ages to see live birds of prey up-close and to learn about their impressive adaptations and behaviors. (Saratoga Arts made this program possible through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. This support was gained by the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield.) |

Join us for a panel discussion to commemorate the forming of the Continental Army and Philip Schuyler’s appointment as Major General of the Northern Department. Garrett Cloer, Program Manager for Interpretation and Visitor Experience at the Saratoga National Historical Park, will discuss Congress's forming of the army after the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Jessie Serfilippi, Lead Interpreter at Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site, will then provide insight into Philip Schuyler's background and personal connections, as well as his first actions as Major General in 1775, which included the invasion of Quebec. Both panelists will consider why Philip Schuyler was chosen for the appointment. Panel followed by a Q&A in the Huxley Theater. Immediately following, attendees are invited to attend free Open House Tours at Schuyler Mansion on Catherine Street in Albany, to be offered until 4:30 PM that Sunday. |

June 26, 2025(3 events) Southern Adirondack Audubon Society at the Bancroft Public Library (Salem) Neil Gifford will provide a synopsis of the individual studies and conservation work being conducted there, focusing on Prairie Warblers and Eastern Whip-poor-wills and inland barrens fire management, and share that their efforts there have had a positive impact on the local shrubland bird community. Gifford is a community representative on the North Atlantic Fire Science Exchange, with more than 28 years of fire ecology, prescribed fire and field ornithology experience. He earned an associate’s from Paul Smith’s College and bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in Ecology and Environmental Science from Plattsburgh State University. Gifford is also a certified wildland firefighter, a USGS Master Bird Bander and the author of both popular and peer-reviewed scientific articles.  |

Dr. Mayer, who also leads the Museum’s Field Research Laboratory in Cambridge, will guide you through the tools, techniques, and secrets of mussel research. June 28, 2025(3 events) Registration required: Hudson Crossing Park This science-themed excursion will take the kids on a short hike to Lock C5 to learn firsthand how it works. They will explore the engineering principles behind the lock and learn how the lock enables boats to navigate changes in elevation. Back at the pavilion, the participants will split into family teams to design and build a functional lock model.
