Creekside Classroom Environmental Education Center Join a tour guide at the Creekside Classroom to learn about the mineral springs in the park. Cups will be provided for tasting the springs. Tours meet at Creekside Classroom every Saturday and Sunday at 11a.m. and 1p.m. unless otherwise specified. Registration required: Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) The Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists is a free community event that is presented annually at SPAC to celebrate hundreds of the Capital Region’s brightest young actors, dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists. At 2pm, SPAC’s grounds will be transformed into a festival of student pop-up performances, fine art displays, food stands, poetry slams, games & activities, and free ice cream provided by Stewart’s Shops! At 4:45pm, hundreds of young artists will gather to present a show-stopping concert on SPAC’s main stage, featuring large-scale productions that combine music, song, poetry, visual art, and dance. |

– Registration required: Lake George Land Conservancy The Adirondacks are a unique and special place that we can all work together to protect. Celebrate the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day by learning how you can be a steward of the land. Learn about best practices for outdoor recreation and the Leave No Trace Principles as you hike the Bradley’s Lookout trail at the Pinnacle Preserve. The trail to Bradley’s Lookout is easy/moderate with mostly gradual and flat terrain. 1.2 miles round-trip. –  Registration required: Adirondack Interpretive Center Join guest birder Miok Salz as we look for early arriving avian migrants and resident birds. We’ll walk along the Rich Lake Marsh on the private Huntington Wildlife Forest. Walks are easy rambles and great for beginning birders. Binoculars are available thanks to Northern New York Audubon. Space is limited. Registration required. – Saratoga National Historical Park A live tinsmith demonstration! At the time of the Battles of Saratoga, the tinsmith was an important part of both community and military life. Tinsmiths created dozens of useful items like cups, bowls, candle molds, lanterns, tea canisters, and other containers. They also provided armies with needed items such as oil flasks, canteens, document cases, cooking kettles, and even canister shot for artillery. Learn about the process and see a sampling of the many civilian and military wares a tinsmith could make! The tinsmith demonstration is weather sensitive and will be cancelled in the event of rain. |

June 11, 2025(6 events) – Registration encouraged: Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) Join naturalists with the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program, Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Champlain Area Trails for an educational invasive species walk along the Wadhams Lookout Trail in Westport. The walk will begin in the parking area on state Route 22 at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 11. Attendees will learn basic plant identification techniques, what makes a species invasive, and how to report invasive species as they walk along the trail. Various invasive species such as buckthorn and Japanese barberry will be identified along the way. The total hike to Wadhams Lookout from the parking area is 0.3 miles long. The trailhead is on state Route 22, 0.3 mi east of Wadhams. We ask everyone participating in the walk to bring the appropriate gear, including water and snacks, for spending a couple of hours in the woods. Registration required: Warren County Career Center

Strawberry refreshments served! $8 Suggested. – 19th Annual Bolton Community Boat Cruise - Rain or Shine – Registration required: Lake George Land Conservancy Researcher David Kramer will present “The Life History of the Moose in New York State” at the Lake George Land Conservancy building in Bolton Landing. Moose were extirpated from the Adirondacks in the late 1800s and early 1900s due to habitat destruction and overhunting. But in the 1980s, moose sightings in the Adirondacks began to trickle in. Over the past few decades, moose have established a permanent population in the New York mountains. In 2015, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) began actively monitoring it. In the program, attendees will learn about the life history and ecology of our largest state mammal and the new research initiative NYSDEC is conducting. |

Registration requested: Adirondack Interpretive Center Join the Interpretive Naturalist Intern Saturday, June 21st at 10am for the summer’s first Woodland Walk on the Rich Lake Trail in memory of AIC friend Elaine Schwartz. The Rich Lake trail is an easy 0.7-mile loop that winds through various habitats, including a raised boardwalk through a cedar swamp, and offers views of the Goodnow Fire Tower. Saratoga National Historical Park The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York return to the park to present, “Silent Wings: Raptor Rehab and Education.” The program is designed for all ages to see live birds of prey up-close and to learn about their impressive adaptations and behaviors. (Saratoga Arts made this program possible through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. June 24, 2025(7 events) – Registration required: Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) Join APIPP and search for aquatic invasive species this summer on your favorite lake or stream. Each year volunteers, lake associations, and partner organizations go out and do early detection surveys for 16 invasive species. In this virtual webinar we will review how to identify the top eight animal and eight plant species that we are looking for. We then review how to report your observations via our forms and by using iMapInvasives. Participants commit to monitoring a waterbody of their choice at least one time between July and September. Later in the summer we will have in-person trainings that allow for hands-on experience with invasive species identification. Help protect your lake by looking out for invasive species! These days offer the perfect opportunity to try out fishing for the first time, to get back into the sport, or to take a friend or the whole family along to fish! Even though a license is not needed, all other fishing regulations apply. Registration required: Hudson Crossing Park This science-themed excursion will take the kids on a short hike to Lock C5 to learn firsthand how it works. They will explore the engineering principles behind the lock and learn how the lock enables boats to navigate changes in elevation. Back at the pavilion, the participants will split into family teams to design and build a functional lock model.
